| History of the hotel |
| |
| In 1885 the bar was purchased for ₤4,600 by Tooths & Company, then called the New England. The hotel was rebuilt twice in 1908 (when it was called The Westminster) and 1940 (Sutherlands hotel). The bar had a thriving atmosphere in the 40s when Broadway was the social centre of town.
In recent years the bar has open its doors to live music, having become one of Sydney’s premier live entertainment venues.
